How to Change Your Vintage Story Server Name
Want to make your server stand out in the multiplayer list or give it a custom name for your community? Changing your Vintage Story server name is incredibly simple on MintServers. In this guide, we will show you exactly how to update your server's public display name.
Method 1: Changing the Name via Settings
The easiest way to change your server name is directly through your control panel's configuration tab.
- Log in to your MintServers Game Panel.
- Stop your Vintage Story server before making any changes.
- Navigate to the Game Settings (or Startup) tab on the left sidebar.
- Locate the Server Name field.
- Delete the default text and type in your shiny new server name!
- Go back to your Console and click Start. Your new name will now appear in the server browser.

Method 2: Changing the Name via File Manager
Alternatively, you can manually edit the game's configuration file. This is useful if you want to tweak other settings, like the welcome message, at the same time.
- Stop your Vintage Story server.
- Click on the Files tab in the left sidebar.
- Navigate to the
datafolder. - Locate and click on the
serverconfig.jsonfile to edit it. - Find the line that says
"ServerName":. - Carefully change the text inside the quotation marks to your new name. For example:
"ServerName": "My Awesome MintServers World", - Click the Save Content button in the top right corner.
- Return to the Console and Start your server.

That is it! Your server is now proudly displaying its new name. If your players are having trouble finding it on the public list, make sure they search for the exact name or simply connect directly using your server's IP address and Port.
